Drop Studio launched a few months ago with one job: photo-real AI mockups on the exact blanks you sell. Since then we've been shipping almost every week, and it's time to round up what's new — because if you signed up in the early days, today's Drop Studio is a different animal.
Back-print mockups
You can now choose Front or Back view when building a mockup shot. Back prints are huge in POD right now, and showing them used to mean Photoshop gymnastics. Now it's a toggle.
A smarter mockup studio
The mockup engine has been steadily upgraded for realism and reliability:
- Designs are printed into the fabric — following folds, lighting, and texture — rather than pasted on top.
- Exact brand blanks: build your shot on the garment you actually sell — Bella Canvas, Comfort Colors, Gildan, and more, in the real colorways.
- Flat lays for clean product-only shots, plus full control over the model: gender, age range, body type, ethnicity, scene, lighting, and framing.
A better design tool
- Write Prompt From Image: upload any design you love and the AI writes the generation prompt for you — the fastest way to a strong starting point.
- More control over canvas size, background color, color palettes, and variations.
The all-new Editor
The headliner. The old Refine tab is gone, replaced by a full print-on-demand design editor:
- Text: replace AI-garbled text or add your own — 40+ fonts, bold/outline/shadow, and warp shapes (arc, wave, flag, grow, bulge). Free.
- Recolor (with shading preserved), colorway generation, texture finishes, remove color, and a live eraser. All free.
- AI Variations: re-imagine any design — same words, fresh artwork.
- Upscale to true print resolution and AI background removal (1 credit each), with a live print-size readout so you always know you're print-ready.

A library that remembers
Your library now works like projects: every edit you save becomes a new version of the same design instead of a duplicate file. Open History in the editor to load any earlier version — nothing you make is ever lost, and your library stays clean.
Quality-of-life everywhere
Dozens of smaller fixes shipped alongside: clearer credit costs on every AI action, completion notifications, unsaved-changes protection, a guided getting-started flow, and a first-open tour of the editor.
What's next
More blanks, more editor tools, and deeper organization for big libraries (folders and search are on the roadmap). If there's something you want, reply to any of our emails — the last three months of updates came almost entirely from user requests.
